CMGC Information

The Clackamette Mineral and Gem (CMGC) in Oregon City, Oregon welcomes you to learn about the lapidary arts and earth sciences.

Our members enjoy collecting rocks, minerals, and fossil materials.

The cutting, tumbling, polishing and faceting of various materials, whether gathered or purchased, is thoroughly fascinating. Members are encouraged to learn from each other, and we have a small library available, too.

CMGC was established in 1963 and continues to promote interest in the lapidary arts and earth sciences through collecting gems, education, sharing and presentation of our annual Rock and Gem Show. The show this year (2010) is on October  23 and 24 at the Clackamas County Fairgrounds, in Canby, Oregon. Be sure to set this weekend aside and join us there!

We have several membership levels available: Family, Single, Junior, and News Letter Subscription only at $15, $12, $5, and $10 respectively. Dues are due on the last day of December and are pro-rated throughout the year.

To officially become a member, you will need to attend three club functions such as meetings, field trips, work parties and/or other activities with us. This will give you the opportunity to see if our organization fits your needs.

 Need instructions?

We have many skilled members to instruct in many rock related areas such as Identification, Rock Cutting, Grinding, Polishing, Jewelry Making and many other areas.

Come to our meeting and check it out!
